Naming a GUI and Its Files

File and GUI Names
The M-file and the FIG-file that define your GUI must have the same name.
This name is also the name of your GUI.
For example, if your files are named
mygui.fig and mygui.m, then the name of
the GUI is
mygui, and you can run the GUI by typing mygui at the command
line. This assumes that the M-file and FIG-file are in the same directory and
that the directory is in your path.
How to Assign Names
You can name the files and the GUI in any of these ways:
• From the GUIDE Quick Start dialog box. Before you select a template,
GUIDE lets you select a name for your GUI. If you do this, GUIDE saves the
GUI M-file and FIG-file using the name you specify.
• The first time you save the files:
- Using the Save icon on the Layout Editor toolbar
Naming the FIG-file also names the
M-file and the GUI.
